According to Sam Mobile, Samsung could be launching a new premium tablet soon. The tablet will be reportedly known as the Galaxy Tab S and could sport features like an AMOLED display, an octa core processor and a fingerprint scanner.

The Korean manufacturer is said to be launching the tablet in 10.5 and 8.4 inch variants. Other features include 3GB of RAM, 8-megapixel camera on the back, 2.1-megapixel front camera and Android 4.4.2 KitKat.

The tablet will be available in an LTE variant as well, but without relying on Qualcomm chips. It is believed that Samsung is licensing LTE chips from Intel to implement them directly within its Exynos 5420 octa core SoC. A few benchmark scores have revealed that the tablet has scored 35,268, so it’s no slouch as far as performance is concerned. 

It will be interesting to see how the Galaxy Tab S will be marketed since Samsung launched the Galaxy Tab Pro and the Galaxy Note Pro 12.2 in January. It’s clear however that the company is looking to launch a new lineup of premium AMOLED offerings which could shape the Android tablet segment drastically in the coming months.

Samsung’s sole AMOLED tablet, the Galaxy Tab 7.7, received lukewarm response when it was launched a couple of years ago. But with a solid hardware specs sheet to back up the display, we think the Galaxy Tab S could be a force to reckon with.
