I’m sorry, but I just couldn’t sit through Samsung’s live stream. It was so over the top, so ridiculous, so “trying hard to funny, but not succeeding”, that I simply had to close my browser window and start digging up the real news.

Let’s start with what I think is the most important part of the device, the screen. Samsung has confirmed that it’s a 5 inch 1080p AMOLED panel. There’s some conflicting information regarding the subpixel arrangement, but that’s not going to get solved until retail units start shipping and people whip out their microscopes. Despite the screen being 0.2 inches larger than the display on the Galaxy S III, the Galaxy S IV is actually narrower than its predecessor thanks to the smaller bezels. That’s awesome.

As for the rest of the phone, you already know everything there is to know about it thanks to the product leaks. There’s a 13 megapixel camera in the back, and a 2 megapixel camera in the front; there’s an octo-core Exynos processor inside, though there will be a Qualcomm Snapdragon variant; there’s 4G LTE support, for both TDD and FDD.
