Samsung today unveiled its new mid-range Android powered smartphones — the Galaxy J5 and Galaxy J7. These new mid-range handsets from Samsung are targeted towards youngsters, who love clicking selfies.
Both phones come with a 13MP F/1.9 aperture rear camera, and a front-facing 5MP — also with an F/1.9 aperture — which is accompanied by an LED flash to make sure you are able to click bright selfies even in low-light situation.
The Galaxy J5 is the smaller of the two and comes with a 5-inch 720p LCD display, while the Galaxy J7 comes with a bigger 5.5-inch LCD display of the same resolution. The Galaxy J5 is powered by a 1.2GHz quad-core processor, while the Galaxy J7 comes with an octa-core Snapdragon 615 (1GHz + 1.4GHz) processor.
The handsets also feature Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS and dual-SIM connectivity, and comes with 16GB of internal storage and a microSD card slot. The J5 comes with a 2,600Ah battery, while the J7 features a 3,000Ah one.
Out of the box, the devices will be running on Lollipop with Samsung’s latest iteration of TouchWiz on top of it. Some software features present in the handset include a wide-angle selfie mode, Clean Master, Ultra Power Saving mode, and more.
For now, the Galaxy J5 and Galaxy J7 have only been made official in China with a price tag of 1,398 CNY (~$225) and 1,798 CNY (~$290), respectively. They will be available in three colors: gold, white, and black.
The Galaxy J5 and Galaxy J7 might be Samsung’s first phone with a front-facing flash, but companies like Sony and HTC have been offering similar budget handsets with a front-facing LED flash since quite a few months. However, the Korean company’s marketing prowess will make sure that more customers know about its handsets.
