Google Wallet Android app

Google Wallet didn’t get completely shoved into the background with the introduction of Android Pay, as made evident by the fact the development team keeps adding new features.

Recently, Google Wallet was updated with a big new addition for those that have grown accustomed to sending money to contacts with the app, but wish they didn’t necessarily need an email address to do it. Beginning today, as the update is now available for the app, users can simply send money to any contact — as long as they have a phone number.

Using the phone number to send money means the recipient will get a secure link in a text message. Once they select that, they’ll put their debit card information into the next available field, to which the money will be directly deposited to the connected account within a few minutes. It’s fast and secure, so for anyone that’s been having to rely on email addresses to send money, it should make a nice change of pace.

A link to download Google Wallet, which is now at version 11.0-R234-v13 (it just rolls off the tongue), is available below.
