A report from Bloomberg claims that Google plans on rolling out a new picture sharing and storage service that will not be a part of Google+.

According to sources of the site, the new picture sharing service will allow users to share their images to Twitter and Facebook as well.

Google Inc. is set to reveal an online picture sharing and storage service that will no longer be part of the Google+ social network, people familiar with the plans said.

Google currently offers Photos as a way for users to upload and manage their photos, but the service is linked with Google+. This means that it is not possible to use the service without a Google+ account, and signing up on a new social network site just to upload their photos is not something that most users are willing to do.

Rumors about Google separating Photos from its social networking site have been making the rounds of the Internet since quite a few months now.

Recently, the company did integrate Google Drive with Google+ Photos that finally allowed users to view and upload photos without using Google+.

In all probability, Google will make an announcement about its new picture sharing service at Google I/O 2015, which is less than two weeks away from now.
