YouTube subscribers in the United States can now enjoy Picture-in-Picture mode in the YouTube app for Android on their Android device running Oreo or higher.

Picture-in-Picture (PiP) will allow a YouTube video to run in a small windowed form on top of any other app or on your home screen. If you are in the United States, you can enjoy PiP on your Oreo running Android device by simply pressing the Recent Apps button or the Home button while playing back a video in the YouTube app for Android.

Once a YouTube video is running in PiP, you can move it around on your screen. You can even pinch to make the video player bigger in size. To go back to the YouTube video player, simply double tap on the PiP player.

Strangely, while Google is offering PiP in YouTube for Android for free to users in the United States, it bundles this feature as a part of its paid YouTube Red/Premium subscription in Europe and other parts of the world.

If you live in any other part of the world and want to enjoy YouTube Picture-in-Picture on your device, you can try one of the many third-party YouTube clients (like YouTube Vanced) that offer this functionality. Apart from YouTube, Google offers PiP support in its own Google Maps app.
