Samsung has quietly unveiled its latest generation Exynos chipset, the Exynos 9810. Featuring the third generation of its custom CPU cores, the Exynos 9810 is based on the 2nd generation 10nm fab.

Samsung is yet to make a formal announcement about the Exynos 9810 but it did provide some details of the chip in one of its press releases. Apart from its custom CPU cores, the Exynos 9810 will feature an upgraded GPU and a gigabit LTE modem for maximum theoretical download speeds of up to 1.2Gbps. The modem will also be the first in the industry to support 6CA (Carrier Aggregation) for improved download speeds and network reception. Considering Samsung used ARM’s Mali-G71 GPU in its Exynos 8895 chipset, the Exynos 9810 should make use of ARM’s Mali-G72 GPU. While Samsung does not mention anything about the ISP, the Exynos 9810 is expected to come with an improved ISP for improved image processing and probably a dedicated chip for machine learning.

The chip is expected to go into mass production by the end of this year which is likely when we will hear more about it. The Exynos 9810 will likely end up powering the international variants of the Galaxy S9 and S9+ next year. The U.S. variants of the handset will make use of Qualcomm’s next-generation Snapdragon 845 chipset which is yet to be unveiled.
