Evan Blass, the reliable leaker, has revealed that Samsung is working on a behemoth of a device: the Galaxy J Max. This 7-inch giant breaks the naming convention used for the Galaxy J Series, which has a number to represent the devices, i.e. Galaxy J1, J2, J3, J5 and J7, and is instead named the Galaxy J Max.

Given the large screen size, this gargantuan phone would work better as a tablet as it is not about to fit into your jeans pocket. However, due to its dual-SIM capabilities and support for a broad range of carrier bands including GSM, HSDPA and, LTE, the Galaxy J Max is still classified as a phablet — phone which is the size of a tablet.

For now, this is all the information that has leaked about the Galaxy J Max, though we are confident that more news should be available soon as the device undergoes more testing and passes through FCC and Bluetooth certification. The J Max is most likely designed to accommodate a very specific market that requires a mini tablet with full phone functionality, and I do hope that would mean it comes with some sort of stylus that will take advantage of that large screen.

Let us know if you are intrigued about Samsung’s plausible upcoming phablet, the Galaxy J Max.
