OnePlus co-founder Carl Pei revealed in an interview with TechRadar that the ‘Never Settle’ company had a “fitness tracker and Bluetooth speaker in development, but we cancelled both one month before launch.”

The decision to not launch the products did not go down well with the engineers at OnePlus who were pretty disappointed with this sudden change of heart.

So, why did OnePlus not launch its wearable and Bluetooth speaker? Carl says that the company decided to “focus on smartphones, to ensure we’re launching quality products and leave the wearable and speakers to the people who know what they’re doing.”

The young company is going to focus on its two different smartphone product line for the foreseeable future: the top of the line flagship series and the design focused X series. Carl also promised that by the end of this year the company’s customer service will improve further, and will be considerably better within the next 12 months.

The wearable market is already flooded with wearables that are barely able to differentiate themselves from each other. With OnePlus struggling to scale with their existing smartphone lineup, it does make sense for the company to focus only on smartphones — at least until they are able to easily scale their operations.
