Functionality is an important part of any email app, and the Gmail team continues to add new aspects to its popular app to keep it one of the best out there.

The Gmail team has just announced a pair of new features that they say will help you manage your inbox. First up is support for Rich Text Formatting, which means you can now use italics, underline, or bold your text as you see fit. You’ll be able to emphasize something important right from your smartphone now, one of those features that probably should have been available ages ago.

Gmail RSVP

The second addition is the ability to instantly RSVP for an event, without having to open up another app to see when you’re available. The updated Gmail now supports a single tap to see your schedule from Google Calendar or Microsoft Exchange, so you can instantly save the date and let the other person, or people, know you can (or can’t) make it.

The new features should begin rolling out today, so keep an eye out for even more italicized text.
