Picture a point and shoot camera. Now imagine it running Android. That’s the Samsung Galaxy Camera in a nutshell, and it’s a bold experiment that I applaud Samsung for launching, but I would never in a million years recommend anyone actually buy one. Similar to how the first Galaxy Note was too weird for most people, but then the second one became a smash hit, I’m expecting a similar thing to happen to the Galaxy Camera.

With that out of the way, here’s the news: The Galaxy Camera, which launched with cellular connectivity, is now going to come out in a cheaper WiFi only model. According to a press release published on Android Central, said device will cost $450 and hit store shelves in the United States this month.

I have no doubt that some of you, especially journalists working the field, will love the Galaxy Camera, but after seeing one in real life, I just can’t imagine myself lugging one around town.

It’s not a tiny camera. Not even close.
