Unknown OnePlus FCC reveal

Late last week, an unknown handset from OnePlus made its way through FCC. If rumors and previous reports are to be believed, this upcoming mid-range handset from OnePlus will sit just below the OnePlus 2 in terms of both specifications and price.

Now, a source of GforGames claims that the OnePlus Mini (or OnePlus X) will make use of the same 5-inch Full HD IPS display panel that is found on the Xiaomi Mi 4c. This could also mean that the display will make use of a Synaptics S3708 controller that features ClearForce — an alternative version of Apple’s Force Touch; hover-detection up to 25mm; and SideTouch that is already found on the Mi 4C. However, it is unlikely that OnePlus will end up using the same touch panel on the Mini due to cost issues though.

The source also reveals that the OnePlus Mini will feature front facing stereo speakers of 1.2W, and a 13MP Sony IMX258 camera at the rear, though it will lack OIS but make up for it by EIS. The sensor will also take advantage of Phase Detection Auto Focus for faster auto focus.

Other specs of the Mini that was revealed include a removable back cover, though the battery will not be user replaceable, an IR blaster, and FM radio. The last two features are pretty popular among smartphone users in India, which is a key market for OnePlus. The source also notes that despite what rumors suggest, the handset will be powered by a Helio X10 chipset from MediaTek and not the older but more powerful Snapdragon 801 chipset from Qualcomm.

Rumors claim that the OnePlus Mini will feature 2GB RAM and come with 16GB of on-board storage space. OnePlus is expected to unveil their new handset before the end of this year, with the device being available for purchase around the holiday season.
