Samsung Galaxy S8 live leak

Samsung’s Galaxy S8 is rumored to pack in a variety of noteworthy features, and Samsung has teased the upcoming flagship on a couple of occasions without actually unveiling anything.

VentureBeat has managed to get a photo of the oft-rumored Galaxy S8 ahead of its launch, revealing the front and back of the handset. The photos appear to corroborate previous rumors suggesting the device will boast an “edge” screen, with the side curved down over the side of the phone.

As far as details go, the report has a few. There will be two variants of the Galaxy S8, one with a 5.8-inch display, while the other will have a 6.2-inch panel. They will be “mostly screen,” though, with the display taking up 83% of the front panel in each model. The displays will both be QHD Super AMOLED as well, and there won’t be any traditional navigation keys up front, either.

Samsung will use two processors, as usual, with availability being based on regions. Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 835 processor will be used, as will another 10-nanometer processor bearing the Samsung Exynos brand. Each model will have 4GB of RAM, and 64GB of built-in storage. They will both support 256GB microSD cards as well.

The batteries will measure in at 3000mAh and 3500mAh, for the 5.8- and 6.2-inch models, respectively. They will be outfitted with a 3.5mm headphone jack, a USB Type-C port, and downward-facing stereo speakers. The camera on the back will be a 12-megapixel shooter, which the report says will offer a visual search feature, bringing up icons on the display to let the owner decide how they want to search for something they are framing in the camera. The front-facing camera will be an 8MP shooter, with iris-scanning capabilities.

The report also indicates that Samsung’s artificial intelligence, Bixby, will indeed be on the handset.

As far as a release date is concerned, the report states that Samsung is planning an Unpacked event in New York City on March 29.
