OnePlus has already confirmed that its latest flagship, the OnePlus 3, will be unveiled on June 14, and that it’ll launch without an invite system.

Now, in an interesting move, the company is also going to let people buy the new phone before they even unveil it. OnePlus has officially announced a “blind sale” for the OnePlus 3 for 1,000 customers in China. The blind sale kicks off at 10:00 am June 6, local time (10:00 pm ET, June 5).

When the blind sale starts, OnePlus will not have announced the phone yet, nor how much it will cost, so the company will be asking its early buyers to fork over 2,999 yuan (about $457 USD). OnePlus points out that this is not the final price of the handset, and when the company does unveil how much it will cost, it will either refund the early buyers the price difference, or customers will need to spend a bit more money.

The incentive here, according to OnePlus, is a six-month screen warranty that’s getting tagged along with the early purchase, and a 249 yuan ($38 USD) gift certificate. And if someone does buy the OnePlus 3 in the early sale, but are ultimately underwhelmed by the device when it does get announced, can cancel their order.

It’s an interesting move, to say the least, but who knows if it will actually work or not. At least it isn’t an invite system, right?
