You’ve probably familiar with the ASUS Transformer, the Android tablet that docks into a keyboard, with the end result looking like your run of the mill laptop. HP has just announced the SlateBook x2, and it’s the exact same thing, except their machine is crazy powerful.

Starting with the screen, it’s a 10.1 inch WUXGA panel. That’s 1920 x 1200 pixels, which is a win in my book, but I know some of you will want even more. As for the guts, NVIDIA’s Tegra 4 is inside. That means four ARM Cortex A15 processors. You also get 64 GB of storage, which can be expanded via one of three ways: a full size SD card that you can jam into the included keyboard, a microSD card that’s in the tablet itself, and a USB key.

How much will all that cost you? Just $480. Shipments are expected to start in August, which is a bit of a shame, but hey, good things come to those who wait. I wish HP would release a 3G/4G enabled model, but I recognize that they’re probably just dipping their toes into the water with this device.
