For some Pixel 2 owners out there in the wild, there is a persistent buzzing sound that can be heard while on a phone call.

The issue has been known for a bit of time now, and it looks like Google has found a fix for it. A community manager has posted a comment on the Pixel User Community forum, saying that Google will be rolling out a fix for the issue in the “coming weeks.” Unfortunately an exact date isn’t provided.

“We’re rolling out a software update in the coming weeks which eliminates a faint buzzing sound on some Pixel 2 devices when the phone is placed to your ear during a phone call.”

It’s a short message, to the point to say the least, but it does provide an indicator that Google does know there is a problem, and that a fix is on the way. Pixel 2 owners suffering from the issue will at least have something to look forward to, hopefully before the end of the year.

Pixel 2 owners have said that they can hear a distant humming while on a phone. Some owners have said that they got their Pixel 2 replaced by Google, but, after trying to make a phone call, have noticed that the persistent buzzing sound has remained, even in the newer model.

The Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL have been plagued with a variety of hardware issues ever since the phones released earlier this year. Google has been quick to fix what it can via software updates, and has even extended both devices’ manufacturer’s warranty to two years, which should help alleviate any concerns for the devices moving forward.
