Google is finally revamping Play Store with a redesigned Material theme. The company has already meted the new Material Design to other apps like Google Photos, Google Drive, Google Keep, and Google Calendar. In fact, Google had begun the rollout last week and now officially communicated the changes.

According to Google, the Play Store has more than two billion monthly active users. With the Material Update, the Play Store is expected to sport a cleaner and intuitive user interface. Furthermore, the design overhaul is expected to improve app discovery and add new sections.

Google has added a new navigation bar at the bottom of the Play Store. The change will help you browse faster. Games and Apps get separate sections, this move is aimed at increasing individual visibility of top apps in each section. Meanwhile, richer app information is put up on the top of each page. The company has also baked in a new app icon system which follows recently set specifications. All the cards including the ones for suggested games and Thumbnails have rounded corner.

The Music Tab has been excluded from the navigation bar, perhaps this has something to do with Google merging Play Music with YouTube Music. A new tab titled “Based on your recent activity” has been added. The Material Theme overhaul for Play Store has already begun last week and it should be rolled out for all Android users by the end of this week. However, you can simply download and sideload the latest APK and enjoy Material Design on Play Store.
