The Korea Herald reports that Samsung’s upcoming phablet, the Galaxy Note 7, will come with a dual-edge curved display as seen on the Galaxy S7 edge. There have been a lot of conflicting reports about Samsung bringing its dual-edge AMOLED display to the Galaxy Note 7 this year, with some suggesting that Samsung will continue to use a flat AMOLED panel on the device.
The report citing a local Korean newspaper says that Samsung will not be launching a flat screen variant of the Galaxy Note 7 this year. If true, this will be the first time that Samsung will be bringing its dual-edge display to its Galaxy Note lineup and will be offering its flagship handset without a flat-screen variant.
Samsung is expected to unveil the Galaxy Note 7 in early August in New York, with the device hitting the retail stores within a couple of week of its official unveiling. The handset will reportedly feature a 5.8-inch Super AMOLED screen, though if Samsung ends up using a dual-edge curved display, the increase in dimension will be very minimal. Other reported specs of the Galaxy Note 7 include 6GB RAM, a Snapdragon 821 chipset, microSD card slot, and IP68 certification like the Galaxy S7 and S7 edge.
The report also states that Samsung will be unveiling a special limited edition of the Galaxy S7 based on the Rio Olympics alongside the Galaxy Note 7. Samsung has already launched a special Injustice Batman-themed Galaxy S7 edge, so this move from the company will not be surprising.
