Google today rolled out the first update for Now on Tap since launching it first with Android 6.0 Marshmallow in September this year. The update makes Now on Tap recognise more content and display information relevant to them.

The next time your friend or family text you their flight number, simply press the home button to bring up Now on Tap which will display all the relevant flight details and its status. Similarly, if you have the confirmation email of your orders opened, simply bring up Now on Tap to check their status and tracking info.

Now on Tap

When reading news about a famous celebrity, bringing up Now on Tap will display more information relevant to them. Google has also added a share button to Now on Tap with this update, which makes it easier to share whatever is there on your screen with others.

Lastly, the update enables Now on Tap for a bunch of new languages, including French, German, Spanish, Italian, Russian and Korean.

Now on Tap has not been particularly useful for me until now, but with these new additions, the feature should become a wee bit smarter. However, I still think that Now on Tap will still take around a year and a plethora of updates from Google before it can become an integral part of the Android experience.

Google says that all these new features of Now on Tap will be available to users over the coming few days.
