Moto Z DROID Style

On June 9, the Lenovo-owned Motorola will announce something new. The company even used the old RAZR to tease whatever that new thing is.

That new thing is apparently two new smartphones, which won’t actually be called Moto X this time around. We’ve heard now that Motorola will apparently change things up this year and call their new flagship phones the Moto Z Play and Moto Z Style. And Verizon Wireless is still getting a variant of at least one of these handsets, and they’ll be called something to the effect of “Moto Z Play DROID Edition.”

Now, thanks to serial leaker Evan Blass (@evleaks), we’ve got a look at what the phone(s) will look like. He tweeted out an image of a trio of differently-colored, but similarly-looking, devices. And indeed they all look like what we’ve seen leaked in the past, with a large, round camera enclosure on the back, and that “flat tire” design that’s been present on the Moto 360’s display.

There are rumors regarding specifications. The high-end of the two new devices will reportedly boast a 5.5-inch 2560×1440 AMOLED display, with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 process under the hood. It will feature either 3 or 4GB of RAM, offer 32GB of built-in storage, and it’ll have a 16-megapixel camera on the back. The battery is said to be measured in at 2600mAh. On top of tall that, the device is said to be only 5.2mm thin.

The second device will reportedly feature a 5.5-inch 1080p AMOLED display, with a Snapdragon 625 processor. It could feature 2 to 3GB of RAM, either 16 or 32GB of built-in storage, and a 13MP camera on the back. The battery could be bigger, though, measured in at 3500mAh, but in a frame that’s 7mm thin.

Moto Z MotoMods

Blass has also managed to get an image of what’s believed to be Motorola’s upcoming modular accessories for the Moto Z devices, called MotoMods. You can see them pictured just above, showing what appears to be a MotoMod for wireless charging, a battery case featuring a kickstand, and a MotoMod that should add a better camera experience, with a bigger flash and physical camera button.

What do you think of the design?
