Sascha Segan, arguably the internet’s most vocal critic against today’s race to create the largest smartphones capable of fitting into a normal sized pocket, has scored an exclusive interview with Jim Wicks, Motorola’s Design Chief. I recommend you read Segan’s entire article for all the nitty gritty details, but here are the two main points that stand out.

One, Wicks confirms that Motorola will launch a new line of devices by the end of this year. Said devices will be “Google-influenced” and run stock Android. They’ll possibly even lack operator bloatware in the United States, which is sadly still a major issue.

And two, Motorola will make phones that are “just right” when it comes to size. Considering that Samsung’s Galaxy S4 has a 5 inch screen and Apple’s iPhone 5 has a 4 inch screen, the rumors that were floating around the internet earlier this year about a 4.5 inch Nexus 5 are starting to make a lot of sense. I wish there was more I could share, but there’s no additional information.

Now we wait. Patiently.
