Yesterday, Motorola unveiled the Verizon bound Droid Turbo 2 with a 5.4-inch “shatterproof” display. The company boasted at the launch event that it has been working on the its shatterproof display technology since the last three years.

In fact, Motorola is so confident about the technology that the Droid Turbo 2 comes with a 4-year guarantee against cracks and shatter for the display. So, how good is the shatterproof display on the Droid Turbo 2? Is it really worth all the hype that Motorola is creating around it? The folks over at CNN Money decided to find that out by dropping the phone from various heights. Since the drops did not seem to do much, they even went ahead and got a rickshaw to run over the phone.

When the Droid Turbo 2 emerged unscathed from such a gruelling test, the team finally got a horse to step on the phone’s display. Shockingly, even then the display on the handset did not shatter. It did get a ding, but the display was still completely usable. The phone’s metallic chassis did not help up so well against all those drops though, and was badly scuffed up by the end of the test.

The Droid Turbo 2 seems to be a match made in heaven for people who have had to retire their previous smartphones because of its screen shattering.
