Google’s Android operating system is set to give users more detailed choices over what apps can access, according to the people, who asked not to be identified because the matter remains private.

With many Android apps now stealing the personal data of users’ for their own benefit, a permissions manager in Android definitely makes sense. It will also make life easier for people who are paranoid about their privacy.

Right now, users can only see the permissions required by the app before installing it, and if they don’t like one of the particular permissions used by it, they have no other choice but to not install the app on their device.

Google had accidentally slipped a permission manager in Android 4.3, but completely removed in the future version of Android.

Google is all set to unveil Android M at its developer conference — Google I/O — later this month.
