Google has just released a new update for Google Now/Search on the Play Store that brings some useful features and voice actions. For starter, Google Now can automatically pull up information for the shows or movies that you are watching on your internet-connected TV. Sadly, this feature is US only for now, and only works if the TV and your Android device are on the same network.

Other new features and enhancements include voice action tips, and the ability to directly play a music from your phone or the Play Store. The latter is a biggie since it will allow users to directly play a music, instead of simply launching the Play Music app.

The official change-log of the update is as follows -:

What’s in this version:

For Android 4.1+ (Jelly Bean):
– Information about shows you’re watching on your internet-connected TV (US only)*
– Saved offers when nearby a redemption location
– New voice action: play music from your phone or the Play Store
– Voice actions tips
* Requires phone/tablet to be on the same network as your TV

Sadly, the update is being rolled out in stages by Google so it might just take a few days to show up on your phone. As always, Google usually hides some under-the-hood and minor changes in these updates to Now, so if you come across something, do drop in a comment and let us know.
