Last year, Google had released Now on Tap, a quick search and information tool that was easily available at your fingertips; however, it has not been as big a success as Google would like it to be. With the latest update, Google has now added more features that would allow one to select a word or phrase and look it up as well as search by image.

Traditionally when using Now on Tap in emails, chat messages, news articles or any application that has a lot of text on the screen, the software is not able to read your mind and select the specific text you were looking at. To combat this issue, the new Now on Tap search feature lets you select the word or phrase regarding which you want more information.

They say a picture is worth a thousand words and it seems Google took this literally when it introduced image search to Now on Tap. Not only does it let you search the image that is displayed on your screen, it also allows you to access the camera app and point and search what you are looking at. So say you are looking at images of that hot celebrity that you sneakily took, but can’t remember her name, Now on Tap will allow you to creepily find out those details by opening a card with the relevant information. Not only does it work when stalking celebrities, it also works on movie poster, magazines and famous landmarks.

The updates for Now on Tap have been released internationally, however, for now the cards only display information in English. Nonetheless, Google has made a vow to bring additional language support to this feature as time goes by.
