Android TV partners

Google today announced a bunch of new partners for its Android TV and Google Cast platform. With a bunch of new partners signing up for the platforms, it is likely that your next TV or sound bar will support these platforms out of the box.

On the Android TV side of things, Google announced that from “later this year” Android TVs will be available from Arcelik, Vestel, RCA, Hisense, TCL, Bang & Olufsen, and Linknet in Indonesia.

Google Cast enabled speakers

For Google Cast, the company announced that speakers, sound bars and A/V receivers from B&O Play, Harman Kardon, Onkyo, Philips, Pioneer and Raumfeld will be released throughout the year with built-in support for the technology.

Additionally, Google will be bringing multi-room sync functionality to Google Cast enabled speakers that will allow it to take on offerings from Sonos and other major competitors.

Android TV and Google Cast have not really taken off, but it is still nice to see Google putting its force behind the technologies and bringing them to mainstream products, which will definitely help in their mass adoption.
