Beside unveiling the 2nd generation Chromecast, Google also announced the Chromecast audio. As its name suggests, the Chromecast audio is used to add casting support to your existing speakers.

As Google puts it, Chromecast audio is used to make your existing speakers smart. The circular device features a 3.5mm audio jack that is used to plug in to other speakers. It also supports RCA input. Content is streamed through Wi-Fi and not Bluetooth, which should lead to a better streaming experience and reduces the power drain.

The device also supports Guest mode, and will automatically work with devices that are connected to your home Wi-Fi network. You will also be able to cast audio to Chromecast audio through your PC and Android device.

What makes Chromecast audio even better is that it supports multi-room support, so you have have multiple speakers in different room play the same music at the same time.

Chromecast audio goes on sale in 17 countries from today for $35. It will also be available in the United States through Best Buy and Walmart.
