Android 10

Google surprised us by ditching dessert naming convention for the latest Android. The company recently announced that its latest mobile operating system will be called Android 10. Now Google has revealed the exact date on which Android 10 will roll out for Pixel devices.

The news of the update is confirmed by none other than Google agents. Strangely enough, the folks at Phonearena simply asked a Google Agent about the latest update and voila! The agent confirmed that the update of Android 10 will start rolling out for Pixel devices from Sept 3. Meanwhile, the update is likely to roll out for all Pixel devices including Pixel 3, 3XL, 3s, and Pixel 2, 2XL. Surprisingly, the original Pixel and Pixel XL which were launched in 2016 will also get Android 10 update.

Android 10 is expected to arrive with the following features,

Dark Mode– Dark Mode will allow you to use your Android phone with relative ease in dark/night.

Privacy Protections- Android 10 will finally bring transparency and control for privacy features. You can now allow an app location permission only when it’s in use. Android 10 also won’t let apps launch an activity from the background. Google is also beefing up identity protection by automatically scrambling Mac address.

Better Support for Foldable Devices- Android 10 is better support for foldable devices. Developers will be able to build responsive apps that change based on the device’s status (folded or unfolded).

Sharing Shortcuts- Developers will be able to create custom shortcuts that show up in the sharing list. Similar to how launcher shortcuts work.

When will my device get Android 10?

As always the Pixel devices will be the first ones to get Android 10. The next in line will be stock Android phones and flagship smartphones. It is no secret that the adaption rate for Android update is sluggish. Most of the manufacturers don’t bother to update the slow/moving or budget devices while others take a lot of time to work on custom overlays. Cutting it short, Samsung devices including S10+, S10, S10e and Note 10 are expected to receive an update in the first quarter of 2020.
