Some US stores are selling Google Play Store gift cards at less than face value, go stock up!

Say you’re 14 years old, want to buy a game from the Google Play Store, but don’t have a credit card to give to Google. What do you do? You could ask your parents, but they’ll likely freak out and say no because they don’t want to be surprised with a bill for all your Angry Birds Go power-ups. So the next best thing is gift cards. You give a store a $20, and they’ll give you a little piece of paper that has $20 worth of Play Store credit. But what if I told you that some stores will give you $50 worth of credit for just $45?

According to Android Central, that’s exactly what a handful of retailers are doing in the United States. There are actually two deals. The first is $25 worth of credit for $22.50, and the second is that $50 worth of credit for $45. This special offer is sadly US only and it expires on the 11th of January, but hey, remember that the Play Store isn’t just for apps, you can also buy books, music, and movies from it as well.

If you can’t take advantage of this, well … I’m sorry, but I’d also like to remind you that it’s never been a better time to be a consumer of content. If you give someone like Netflix 10 Euros a month, you can watch pretty much anything you want. Add another 10 Euros a month, and with Spotify you can you listen to just about whatever track you you’d like. That’s 20 Euros a month.

Remember when DVDs came out and a new one cost that much? Yeah, I do.
