Samsung today announced the latest addition to its Galaxy A series — the Galaxy A7. Like the other Galaxy A offerings from Samsung, the A7 has a slim metal unibody design and packs in more power under the hood than its siblings.

The front of the A7 is dominated by a 5.5-inch 1080p Full HD Super-AMOLED screen with the hardware home button and capacitive Recents and Back buttons placed below it.

“We strive to develop devices that appeal to a broad range of consumers and are ahead of the next big social trend,” said JK Shin, CEO and Head of IT & Mobile Communication at Samsung Electronics. “Combining both a stunning metallic design and a powerful performance, the Galaxy A7 is stylish while delivering the superior user experience.”

Internally, the A7 is powered by an octa-core processor from Qualcomm or Exynos, depending on your region, 2GB RAM, 16GB storage space and a microSD card slot. The rear camera has a 13MP resolution and is aided by an LED flash, while the 5MP front camera will fulfil all your selfie needs. The 2600mAh battery is complimented by the Ultra Power Saving mode to deliver an all-day battery life.

The Galaxy A7 runs on Android 4.4 KitKat out of the box with a new version of Samsung’s TouchWiz interface running on top of it, which includes some new software features, including Themes support. Other software goodies included on the device are Multi-screen, Wide Selfie, Rear-Cam Selfie, Quick Connect and more.

Depending on the market, the Galaxy A7 will be available in single or dual-SIM configurations with both models supporting LTE. Samsung, however, did not reveal the price or release date of the device.
