Samsung today launched the 2016 edition of the Galaxy J5 and Galaxy J7 in South Korea. Successor to the massively popular Galaxy J5 and J7 from last year, the mid-range handsets from the Korean company are likely to make their way to India soon where its predecessors were a huge hit.

The Galaxy J5 (2016) features a 5.2-inch 720p Super AMOLED display, and is powered by a 1.2GHz quad-core processor. The handset comes with 2GB RAM, 16GB storage space, and a microSD card slot. At the rear, the phone packs in a 13MP rear shooter with an LED flash, and a 5MP shooter at the front. The handset is powered by a 3,100mAh battery and runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow with Touchwiz on top of it.

The bigger Galaxy J7 (2016) comes with a 5.5-inch 720p Super AMOLED display and an octa-core 1.6GHz quad-core processor. Other specs of the handset remain the same as the Galaxy J5, and the handset also runs on Marshmallow out of the box.

Both handsets will be sold in South Korea through KT in black and gold colors. The J5 (2016) will carry a price tag of 290,000 won ($255), while the J7 (2016) will set you back by 363,000 won ($320).

With the launch of the Galaxy S7 and S7 edge behind it, Samsung is widely expected to launch the 2016 variants of the Galaxy J5 and Galaxy J7 in Europe and other Asian markets in the next month or so.
