Motorola launched the Moto G4 Plus in India last week amidst much fanfare. At the launch event, the company highlighted the camera, battery life, and other launch offers that it is bundling with the handset. However, the company seems to to have forgotten to mention that it is also offering free storage on Google Photos for 2 years with the handset.

How much storage space, you ask? Unlimited apparently. While we have previously seen Android OEMS bundle 50-100GB of free storage space on Google Drive with their devices, Motorola has changed things a bit this time around. With the Moto G4 Plus, the company is offering unlimited storage space on Google Photos for 2 years. Since Google Photos already offers unlimited storage space if you upload photos that are <= 16MP in resolution, you will have to make sure that you select the ‘original’ upload size in the app to take advantage of this offer.

As the support page from Google says, the two-year period begins when you upload the first photo or video from the Moto G4 Plus to Google Photos, and not from the date of purchase. Secondly, once the two-year period runs out, all the uploaded photos during that period will start counting against your existing storage space in Google Photos/Drive. If you end up crossing your total space in Google Drive, you will then either have to convert your original photos to ‘high quality’ to save space or by purchasing more storage space.

Since the Moto G4 is yet to go on sale, it remains unclear if Motorola will also be bundling free unlimited storage space on Google Photos with that handset.
