Last weekend, LG unveiled a trio of budget oriented smartphones under its L-series brand — the L40, L70 and L90 — running Android 4.4 KitKat. The company has put the handsets up for demo on the MWC floors in Barcelona allowing us to feast on some hands-on images and initial impressions of the devices.
The folks over at GSMArena and Engadget have gone hands-on with the L Series III handsets, posting their initial impressions and thoughts. All three phones are running Android 4.4.2 KitKat and sport the double-tap to lock and unlock feature a.k.a KnockOn — as seen on the LG G2. Engadget states that KitKat helps in keeping things smooth on the handsets even though the L40 and L70 are only powered by a dual-core processor.
All three phones have a fingerprint attracting plastic body along with a textured back which provides an improved grip. The displays on the devices were nothing to speak of with poor contrast ratio and viewing angles.
The L70 and L90 support LG’s Quick Window flip cases which allow the user to view relevant information even when the case is flipped close. It is also interesting to note that the L40 and L70 handsets come with a physical home button while the L90 has its Volume and Power buttons on the back like many other recent smartphones from LG.
