Before Huawei got around to confirming it would unveil the P30 and P30 Pro on March 26, we saw renders of the incoming handset.

Now, though, Digital Trends managed to get some hands-on time with a prototype of the P30 Pro at this year’s Mobile World Congress. According to the publication this is the final design Huawei will be using later this year. That being said, this new handset has a familiar size to the P20 Pro, but it will adopt the tapered edges from the Mate 20 Pro.

One of the mainstay features of the P30 Pro will be the trio of cameras on its back. Unfortunately, this was a nonworking prototype, so the publication couldn’t test out the cameras or the software. It looks like the P30 Pro will boast a USB-C port for charging, but the smartphone will not have a 3.5mm headphone jack.

There are not a lot of changes here from the P20 Pro, but perhaps that is to be expected. It is certainly not a Mate X with its foldable design. But the P30 Pro should be a solid enough handset, and as long as Huawei prices it right the handset will probably find an audience. Will it be enough to convince P20 Pro owners to upgrade? We will have to wait and see.
