Google Designed for Families

There are a lot of applications available in the Google Play Store, and sometimes it can be tough to find what might be appropriate for a child in a certain age range.

Google is aiming to make that a little easier, though, with something the search giant is calling “Designed for Families.” With this initiative, Google is making it possible for developers to designate their apps as “kid-friendly,” which in turn should make it easier for parents to find the right apps for their kids. What’s better, is that it’s not left entirely up to the developer, as once the dev designates the app as such, a team within Google will review the app to make sure that it lives up to the title.

The requirements for being kid friendly include having ads that are appropriate for the age, a rating for “Everyone” or “Everyone 10+,” a disclosure for the applications interactive elements, and missing any kind of sign-in options for Google+ or Google Play game services.

According to Google, this new family-friendly push will rollout in the next few weeks, so keep an eye out for it within the Google Play Store.
