Google Maps is loaded with features that are meant to make commuting easier, and that continues to be the case with the newest update planned for the software.

On Tuesday, October 20, Google officially removed the curtain from one of its upcoming updates for Google Maps via its official Lat-Long blog. The announcement outlines an update that will allow users to not only check up on gas prices at stations near them, and pick the one that best suits their wallet’s needs, but also add detours to their trip without actually leaving the Navigation function.

Google outlines that while using Navigation mode, users will be able to select the magnifying glass that appears in the top-right of the display, which will then populate a list of options to choose from, including gas stations, grocery stores, and restaurants. Selecting one will populate even more options to choose from, which the user can then select and get route information to that location, all without leaving Navigation.

If the drop-down options don’t include what the user is looking for, then the user can simply tap in their desired location, or use voice commands to search for it as well.

The update will be arriving in the coming weeks, according to Google.
