Google’s true vision with Material Design might not be fully realized until Android L comes along later this year, but the company is already beginning to bring over some of its new design philosophy to its apps. We saw the Play Store receive a partial Material Design makeover just the other day, and now, Google has given the same treatment to Chrome Beta for Android.
Version 37 of Chrome Beta is starting to roll out over the Play Store with a few design changes. The update introduces a simpler login screen, and cleaner images and text – not every element of the app’s interface has been revamped, but all the changes result in a prettier look and feel. For those running the Android L developer preview, it’s possible the new Chrome Beta will also introduce the option to have each tab show up as a separate app in the recent apps screen, though we haven’t been able to test that out.
The update also brings a new icon for the app, and the usual slew of bug fixes and performance updates. Grab version 37 of Chrome Beta from the Play Store, or, if it isn’t showing up on your device yet, download the APK file to install it manually.
