While you may be itching to get your hands on the Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge following Samsung’s Unpacked event earlier this week, the South Korean company’s new Lollipop update — which is now rolling out in Canada — will breathe new life into your Galaxy S5 in the meantime.

The Android 5.0 update is now reaching Galaxy S5 variants with the SM-G900W8 model number on all Canadian carriers, including Bell, Rogers, TELUS, Koodo, and WIND Mobile, SamMobile reports.

The firmware comes with version number “G900W8VLU1BOB3,” and it’s available as an over-the-air update. If you haven’t already received an update notification, you can search for it manually within the software update section in the Settings app.

Presumably, users will also be able to obtain the update through Samsung’s KIES application for Mac and PC shortly.

Just like Samsung’s other Lollipop upgrades for the Galaxy S5, this one brings lock screen notifications, Smart Lock, improved multitasking, and plenty of enhancements to Samsung’s own apps. It should also deliver significantly better performance and battery life.
