A week after Samsung started updating T-Mobile’s Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 edge to Android 5.1.1, the Korean company has started a wider rollout of the update. 

The update brings some minor usability enhancements including the ability to sort apps alphabetically in the app drawer, RAW support for the camera, and slight improvement in performance. Sadly though, the update does not fix the poor RAM management issue plaguing the handset that makes multi-tasking on it a frustrating experience.

While Samsung has also added support for RAW and lower ISO values, these features are not available in the stock camera app. Instead, Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 edge owners are required to use a third-party camera app from Google Play, which makes use of Lollipop’s Camera2 API, to enjoy these features.

For now, the Android 5.1.1 update for both Galaxy S6 handsets seems to be rolling out in France, with a wider rollout scheduled to happen sometime soon.

The Galaxy S6 predecessor, the Galaxy S5, is also being updated to Android 5.1.1 by T-Mobile. This is a strange move from Samsung, especially since the company is yet to rollout the latest version of Lollipop to its flagship handset across the world. The official changelog of the update is not yet available, but the Android 5.1.1 update should bring with it a bunch of bug-fixes, performance improvements and more to Samsung’s 2014 flagship.
