If it was not already obvious, New York Times has confirmed that Samsung will be unveiling the Galaxy S5 at its upcoming event on February 24th. Samsung had sent out press invites for its ‘Unpacked 5’ event at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona just a day ago.

The surprising part in New York Times report is that the Galaxy S5 is not going to come with a 5.25-inch Quad HD display (2560*1440) as rumoured and leaked by many sources. Instead, the handset will only come with a faster processor, a better camera and subtle design tweaks, as reported by a person who has been briefed on this matter.

On the bright side, the Galaxy S5 launch is going to be a relatively low-key affair and will not consist of all the theatrics that Samsung had done when it unveiled the Galaxy S4. Considering how bad the Galaxy S4 launch event was, I’d say Samsung made a wise move here.

The report also suggests that Samsung will be playing it safe this time and will rely on a new version of its Knox security software and things to attract consumers. Samsung will also be announcing other new products at the event including the rumored Galaxy Gear 2.
