At its Tech World 2016, Lenovo will be unveiling the first Project Tango smartphone that it has developed in association with Google. The handset has remained largely under wraps, but a leaked press render and blurry cam photo now gives us a first look at the handset.

The press renders shows the phone with its gigantic 6.44-inch screen at the front and a bevy of sensors at the rear. Lenovo is working on the Project Tango smartphone with Google, so it is surprising to see the handset feature capacitive navigation buttons.

As for the rear of the handset, it sports a fingerprint sensor, camera, and some Project Tango related sensors. There is also a Tango branding at the bottom of the device.

The leaked blurrycam picture is of the rear of the phone that gives us a closer look at all the sensors, though it does not reveal much.

Using a bunch of sensors, Project Tango devices will be capable of 3D motion tracking and depth sensing that will allow them to understand the space around them. This data can then be used by developers in innovative ways in their applications. For example, demos shown by Google show a Project Tango device being capable of measuring the size of a room, using the device for redecoration purposes of a room, and more.

While it is unlikely the first Project Tango smartphone from Lenovo is going to sell in huge numbers, it will likely play a huge role in a wider adoption of the technology among developers.
