Best Buy and Sprint Are Ending Sales of Replacement Galaxy Note 7 Devices

Over the weekend, AT&T, T-Mobile, and Verizon Wireless all announced that they’d be ceasing sales of the Galaxy Note 7, and would not allow for exchanges to replacement units.

Sprint was still looking into the matter, but, as of now, that has changed. The Now Network has officially announced that it is ending sales of replacement Galaxy Note 7 units, following a growing number of reports that replacement Galaxy Note 7 devices are catching fire.

In a combined report from The Verge, a Sprint spokesperson has confirmed that sales of the replacement Galaxy Note 7 have ceased, and that current Galaxy Note 7 owners can come into a store and replace their unit with any phone they wish — as previously reported.

“Given recent issues reported in the media, Sprint is halting sales of replacement Note 7 devices pending the conclusion of the investigation by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission and Samsung. If a Sprint customer with a replacement Note 7 has any concerns, we will exchange it for any other device.”

In the same report, the big box retailer, Best Buy, has also confirmed that it has ceased sales of the Galaxy Note 7 as well:

“We have stopped selling all Samsung Note7 phones. Customers can visit a Best Buy store to return or exchange their Note7 for a different phone of their choice.”

The Galaxy Note 7 appears to be a defective device, replacement or not, and while carriers (and retailers) are doing what’s necessary, Samsung continues to peddle that it is “working diligently” to figure out what the problem is. For now, if you own a Galaxy Note 7, you should return it immediately.
