Google’s 2013 Nexus 7 is a product that almost everyone has fallen in love with. Between the form factor, the sharp display, and that low price tag, it was hard not to. But not all is well in the land of Mountain View. Reports of faulty Nexus 7 touchscreens have been circulating around the internet for the past few days, and I’ve ignored most of them since they’ve been few and far between, but this latest piece of evidence has me convinced that Google’s got a serious issue on their hands.

As you can see from the video above, it starts out with the Nexus 7 detecting two fingers just fine, but then all of a sudden a third finger is detected. And it get worse, pretty soon the screen just starts freaking out and multiple fingers are picked up.

Is this an issue that can be solved with an over the air update? That’s hard to say since this could very well be a hardware problem that’ll require a touch sensor replacement. Considering how expensive those are, and how more often than not they’re glued to the display itself, that means complete units swap.
