Dell has confirmed to PCWorld that it will discontinue its Venue line of Android tablets. It will also stop releasing software updates for all of its current Venue tablets — a move that is bound to leave a bad taste in the mouth of many Dell Venue tablet owners. 

The company will however continue to provide warranty and repair support for the devices.

A company’s spokesman said that it is taking this move due to the declining demand from consumers and the over-saturation of the market. Instead, the company will be focusing its resources on 2-in-1s that seem to be gaining popularity among customers.

“For customers who own Android-based Venue products, Dell will continue to support currently active warranty and service contracts until they expire, but we will not be pushing out future OS upgrades,” the spokesman said.

While none of Dell’s Android tablets particularly sold like hot cakes, the company did release some interesting tablets. The Venue 8 7000 being a prime example with its sleek design, OLED display, and a 3D RealSense camera.

In addition to Android tablets, Dell will also stop selling Wyse Cloud Connect, a tiny computer that could be connected to a monitor.
