Samsung’s next big thing is here and it is known as the Galaxy Note 4. The company’s latest phablet is every bit a monster as it was expected to be and packs in quite a lot of novel new features.
The Samsung Galaxy Note 4 comes with a brand new design that is reminiscent of the recently unveiled Galaxy Alpha. Just like the Alpha, the Note 4 comes with a metal frame running around its edges and a faux leather back.
The 5.7-inch Quad HD (2560 x 1440) Super-AMOLED display on the Note 4 comes with a slightly curved (2.5D) glass, which has been strengthened further to withstand day to day falls and usage. The AMOLED display features a pixel density of 531 pixels per inch, making it one of the most pixel packed displays on the market currently.
To make use of the pixel packed display, Samsung has completely revamped multi-window. On the Note 4, it will be possible to resize any windows by simply using the S-Pen and dragging one of the corners of the app. It is now also possible for an app to float on top of another making the Note 4 a multi-tasker’s heaven.
Samsung has also given the S-Pen a major revamp with the Galaxy Note 4 and states that it is the “key to unlock the full potential” of the device. The company has doubled its pressure sensitivity compared to the Note 3 — making it the most sensitive stylus on the market. The new TouchWiz flavour on the Note 4 also makes gracious use of the S-Pen, allowing it to be used as a mouse for day to day tasks.
On the camera front, the Galaxy Note 4 comes with a 16MP F/2.0 camera with OIS, making it the first Samsung device to come with this feature. The front camera has also been upgraded to 3.7MP to keep up with the high resolution display and now features an F/1.9 aperture and a 90-degree wide viewing angle.
The Galaxy Note 4 comes with a 3220mAh battery, which Samsung states is still more than enough to last a day of heavy usage. The device comes with a new fast charging mode under which it goes from 0 to 50% in only 30 minutes. It will also come with the Ultra Power Saving mode, which was first seen on the Galaxy S5.
The Galaxy Note 4 will be available in four colors — Charcoal Black, Frost White, Bronze Gold and Blossom Pink with a bunch of accessories including a new LED cover. It will go on sale in most major markets from October this year.
