Samsung today announced its new mid-range flagship in China: the Galaxy A9. The handset packs a mammoth 6-inch Full HD Super AMOLED display that is protected by a 2.5D curved glass.

To make the phone manageable to use with such a huge display, Samsung has trimmed the side bezels around the edges to only 2.74mm. Taking a cue out of its flagship Galaxy S and Note series, the Galaxy A9 also comes with an integrated fingerprint scanner into its home button.

Under the hood, the Galaxy A9 is powered by Qualcomm’s newest mid-range chip: the Snapdragon 652. The octa-core chip features four Cortex A72 cores locked at 1.8GHz and four low-power Cortex A53 cores clocked at 1.2GHz. It also features an Adreno 510 GPU, 3GB RAM, 32GB of internal storage and a microSD card slot. The rear of the A9 features a 13MP sensor from Samsung with an f/1.9 aperture and OIS, and is aided by an LED flash, while the front houses an 8MP f/1.9 sensor.

Other specs of the Galaxy A9 include dual SIM connectivity (nano SIM card slots), LTE support, Wi-Fi b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.1, NFC, and a huge 4,000mAh battery with fast charging support. Like other smartphones in its 2016 lineup of Galaxy A devices, the Galaxy A9 also supports Samsung Pay. The phone will be available in White, Gold and Pink color.

If you have not already guessed it, the Galaxy A9 is the very best of what Samsung’s mid-range A series phone have to offer. The specs of the Galaxy A9 do sound impressive, though its success or failure depends on its pricing, which Samsung did not reveal in its announcement today.
