Last week, SquareTrade supply conducted a bend test on Samsung’s latest Galaxies and found that the display on the Galaxy S6 edge cracked easily under the same pressure under which the iPhone 6 Plus only bent. 

Samsung has now issued a press statement where it says that the video from SquareTrade assumes a very specific condition where the phone is subjected to 110lbf. This rarely happens in normal conditions with a maximum of 66lbf (30kgf) being generated when a phone is pressed in the back pocket of its user. Internal testing from the company also indicate that the Galaxy S6 and S6 edge are not bendable even under 79lbf (32kgf) — pressure which is enough to snap five pencils held together at once.

Samsung also says that SquareTrade has only subjected the front side of the phone with all the pressure, which does not happen in real life. The company says that this may “mislead consumers about the entire durability of smartphones.”

To avoid any confusion to its consumers, Samsung will be asking SquareTrade to conduct the stress test again which targets both front and back sides, and open the test result to the public.”

To make sure that none of its potential customers have any doubt about the durability of the Galaxy S6, Samsung has also posted its own video where it performs a three-point bend test on its latest flagship devices.
