On 1st April, while tech companies were busy cracking April fools joke, a truck in Delhi, India carrying $4 million worth of Samsung products was hijacked by robbers.

The truck was hijacked while it was on its way to Noida from the Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi. The robbers intercepted the vehicle near a deserted stretch, and then beat up the driver and helper before fleeing with the truck. They were even smart enough to disable the GPS tracker installed on the truck.

The robbers had hijacked the truck anticipating it to carry the Samsung Galaxy S6 and S6 edge. However, to their disappointment, the truck was full of motherboards and other equipments, which were still pretty costly and totalled more than 25 crores.

The Indian Express claims that four people have been detained as suspects, and the robbery was an inside job done led by one of the ex-employees of the transporter.

A Samsung spokesperson said that the company “deeply appreciates the efforts of the police and government in this matter”.
