LTE is a common feature in most smartphones nowadays. However, most low-end smartphones still only feature 3G support because the chip powering them does not support 4G networks. 

Qualcomm aims to change that today with the announcement of its latest chip — the Snapdragon 210. This new low-end chip from Qualcomm is the first in its class to feature 4G LTE connectivity as well as dual SIM LTE connectivity.

The Snapdragon 210 also supports carrier aggregation, which allows it to provide a download speed of up to 150Mbps. Other notable features of the chip include HVEC codec support, an integrated Adreno 330 GPU, Full HD video playback and support for up to 8MP cameras.

Qualcomm also announced a LTE less variant of this chip — the Snapdragon 208. This chip comes with a dual-core processor and supports qHD displays.

Qualcomm says that chips powering these devices should be available sometime in the first half of 2015.
