OnePlus is not a stranger to running prerelease software for its handsets out in the wild ahead of a public rollout of new software.

And now the OnePlus 5 and OnePlus 5T are getting into the mix, thanks to a brand new Open Beta for Android 9.0 Pie. OnePlus opened up the test period for those who want to try out the early software ahead of its public launch, but, as usual, it’s also meant to test the software out there in the real world before the company releases the update to the masses.

The new open beta will allow OnePlus 5/5T owners to try out the new UI based on Android Pie, add the latest Android security patch to their device, improvements to the weather app, optimizations across the board including for background app tasks, and much more. And for owners of the OnePlus 5T, the smartphone manufacturer is also including new navigation gestures as well.

OnePlus is also improving the Parallel Apps experiencing, adding support for even more apps (including Telegram, Discord, Uber, and others). OnePlus is also bringing Do Not Disturb mode to both handsets with the open beta of Android Pie.

You can check out the full changelog through the source link below, where you can also sign up for the open beta if you have one of the devices. Do you plan on trying out Android Pie before its public launch through the open beta?
